Persisting through challenges in the classroom is what the common core is all about! We read the classic book, The Little Engine That Could. We discussed how we are like the tiny little engine when we write. This lesson was so perfect. I now often refer to the Little Engine when I am conferencing.

This classic book really motivated my children to discuss, describe and create: character, setting and the stories major event! I was very pleased at all the hard work I received and saw….

We made alphabet soup as a class. The children cut up the carrots and they helped with the ingredients. If you want to make this at home its so easy:
1 can low sodium chicken broth
1 small can of tomato sauce
1 box of alphabet pasta
sliced and pealed carrots
pinch of salt and pepper
